Doyle's Career Bio Recap
In 2025, which marked his first season as the Bears' offensive coordinator, Doyle helped produce one of the NFL's most productive offenses. En route to capturing the NFC North title with an 11-6 record, Chicago averaged 369.5 yards per game, which ranked sixth in the league and stands as the third most in single-season franchise history. The Bears produced the NFL's No. 3 rushing (144.5 ypg) and No. 10 passing (225.1 ypg) attacks, while totaling a league-low 11 turnovers (fewest in single-season team history).
The Bears' offensive line was among the NFL's best, surrendering the league's third-fewest sacks (24), as C Drew Dalman and G Joe Thuney each earned Pro Bowl honors. Additionally, Thuney and T Darnell Wright were named first-team and second-team All-Pro, respectively. Doyle also helped QB Caleb Williams tally career highs in passing yards (3,942), passing TDs (27) and passer rating (90.1).
In two seasons (2023-24) with the Denver Broncos, Doyle's work with the tight ends group contributed to an offense that finished Top 10 in the NFL in points per game (25.0 – 10th) and red zone TD percentage (62.5 – seventh) during QB Bo Nix's 2024 rookie campaign. Nix threw 29 TD passes that season, ranking as the second most by a rookie QB in single-season NFL history.
Doyle initially broke into the NFL coaching ranks with the New Orleans Saints (2019-22) as an offensive assistant under Sean Payton. The Saints compiled a 41-25 overall record during that span and captured NFC South Division titles in each of his first two seasons. Doyle aided an offensive staff that helped eight players earn a combined 12 Pro Bowl selections over those four years.
The Saints averaged 28.3 points per game during Doyle's first two seasons, the NFL's second-highest mark over that span. In 2020, the Saints led the NFL with a franchise-record 30 rushing TDs, while their 30.1 points per game was the NFL's fifth-best mark. The 2019 Saints averaged 28.6 points per game, tying for third in the NFL, and featured the league's seventh-ranked passing offense (265.3 ypg). That season, New Orleans also finished sixth in yards per play (5.92) and eighth in first downs per game (21.7), while committing just eight offensive turnovers, which was – at the time – the fewest by an NFL team in a single season since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 (Buffalo also had 8 in 2024).
Before his NFL career, Doyle's first coaching opportunity came as an offensive assistant at the University of Iowa (2016-18), where he assisted with practice operations and was responsible for breaking down opponent film for the offensive coaching staff. The Hawkeyes compiled a 25-14 (.641) record, posted winning seasons each year and appeared in three consecutive bowl games over Doyle's Iowa tenure.
An Iowa City, Iowa native, Doyle earned his bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Iowa in 2018. Before transferring to Iowa, he played baseball at Iowa Western Community College, where he served as a team captain in 2015.
