SociaLight: What Is the Real #DBU? Tony Jefferson Investigates

031019_SociaLight

In the spirit of the draft, today we investigate which college earns the title of the real "DBU," aka the school who puts the most (and the best) defensive backs in the league.

It all started with a seemingly innocent tweet from Virginia Tech football. They proudly refer to themselves as "the real DBU."

But, Anthony Levine noted the hashtag usage.

Chuck says run the list.

Let's settle this for real.

LSU often boasts that its football program is "the DBU."

With recent names like Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu, you might be inclined to agree.

Actually, CBS Sports crunched the numbers in 2016 and determined the title belonged to the University of Texas for having the most“impressive amount of quality depth over the past decade.” Pro Bowlers Earl Thomas and Michael Griffin would agree.

But, because it's 2019 and it's not real unless it's on Twitter, we're going with the winners of Tony Jefferson's very official Twitter poll.

Chris Wormley ever the loyal Michigan alum.

Shoutout to my fellow Duke alum Matt Skura for catching the lack of ACC representation. Although, I'd have to agree with Tony's reaction.

So that settles it. Kinda. Well, not really.
