The Ravens have added veteran pass rusher Carl Lawson, bolstering an outside linebacker room that needed more firepower.

Lawson, who had five sacks last season with the Dallas Cowboys, has signed to the Ravens' practice squad.

The 30-year-old Lawson has 32 career sacks. He's logged at least five in every season in which he's played at least 12 games and posted 8.5 as a rookie. He's also familiar with the AFC North, after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals as a fourth-round pick in 2017.

Lawson posted on social media Thursday that he was returning to the AFC North.

Baltimore was looking to add more pass rushers after trading Odafe Oweh to the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 7 and placing Tavius Robinson on injured reserve with a broken foot on Wednesday. The Ravens have just eight sacks this season, tied with the Green Bay Packers for the fewest in the NFL.

Lawson played 15 games for the Cowboys last season and was a regular part of their pass rush rotation while also contributing on special teams.

It would be a quick turnaround to get ramped up in time to play Sunday against the Chicago Bears. The Ravens have a short week after that with "Thursday Night Football" in Miami.
