Jacoby Jones To Return To Practice, Injury Updates

The Ravens finally have some good news on the injury front.

Veteran wide receiver Jacoby Jones will return to the practice field this week after missing the last three games with a knee injury. Jones suffered a reported medial collateral ligament sprain in the season opener when rookie safety Brynden Trawick crashed into him as he was trying to fair catch a punt.

Jones had not practiced since the injury, but now the Ravens could get the valuable receiving and return threat back in the lineup depending on how he responds to the practice reps.

"We'll see how he does this week with that," Head Coach John Harbaugh said Monday.

Rookie linebacker Arthur Brown will also return to the practice field this week after missing the last two games with a pectoral injury he suffered against Cleveland.

The Ravens also received some positive news about cornerback Lardarius Webb and wide receiver Marlon Brown, who left Sunday's game with hamstring strains. Harbaugh said they both "looked good" Monday morning.

"We'll have to carry it out through the week and see how they look," Harbaugh said.

The other injuries from the game were linebacker Albert McClellan (shoulder strain), cornerback Jimmy Smith (glute) and wide receiver Deonte Thompson (concussion). Smith stayed in the game and played all but one of the defensive snaps.

"Jimmy Smith had a glute-bruise that he fought through throughout the whole game," Harbaugh said. "You might have seen him limping, getting on the bike during the game. I thought he played through that and played very well with that."

Thompson suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter on a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Jim Leonhard. Thompson held onto the 33-yard catch down the sidelines but immediately came out of the game.

He will have to be cleared for contact before returning to the field.

"He'll go through the protocol, but he was good this morning," Harbaugh said. "No headaches, no concussion symptoms, but he'll go through the NFL protocol on that."

Sunday was Thompson's first game of the year because he had been sidelined since the preseason opener with a foot injury. The foot injury did not appear to hinder him at all during the game, and Harbaugh said "the foot came out of there very well."

Running back Ray Rice (hip) and defensive end Chris Canty (groin) both went into Sunday's game dealing with injuries, but Harbaugh said they came out healthy.

The other lingering injury question was the status of veteran receiver Brandon Stokley (groin), who first appeared on the injury report Friday and was inactive Sunday.

"Brandon had a groin strain and we thought we'd get him to the game," Harbaugh said. "We thought he'd be OK, but it just tightened up on him pre-game so we'll monitor that again day-to-day this week and hopefully we'll have him this week."
