The Ravens and Commanders have mutually agreed to cancel their joint practice next week.

The practice was originally slated for August 21, two days ahead of their preseason meeting in Washington.

"Recognizing the logistical challenges – with our teams' previous games scheduled on different days – and the added strain on players heading into a short week, the Ravens and Commanders mutually agreed to no longer hold a joint practice next week. Instead, we will concentrate on preparing for our upcoming preseason matchup," the Ravens said in a statement Thursday morning.

The Ravens' next preseason game is Saturday in Dallas. The Commanders don't play their second preseason game until Monday, Aug. 18.

The Ravens viewed their joint practice against the Colts on Aug. 5 as a prime opportunity for their starters to get tuned up against another team.

The vast majority of Baltimore's starters don't play in preseason games. On Wednesday, Head Coach John Harbaugh said that will remain the same in Saturday's preseason game in Dallas.
