Practice Report: Takeaways From Stadium Practice, Including Tyler Loop's A+++ Performance

Tyler Loop's first experience kicking live in M&T Bank Stadium went off without a hitch.

Kicking in front of fans inside M&T Bank Stadium for the first time during Sunday's stadium practice, Loop went 11-for-11 on field goals with makes from 60 and 56 yards. The 60-yarder had plenty of room to spare and was right down the middle of the uprights, giving fans a glimpse into both Loop's power and accuracy.

If needed, Loop's 60-yarder could've been a record-breaker. Punter/holder Jordan Stout said the boot would've been good from 67 yards out based on Trackman data. The longest kick in league history is a 66-yard field goal, made by former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker for a game-winner against the Detroit Lions in 2021.

"That's just a taste of what he's been doing," Stout said of Loop.

After making the 60-yarder, Loop received a hug from Head Coach John Harbaugh and a dap-up from Lamar Jackson. The Ravens encouraged crowd noise before Loop's kicks to better simulate a game-like atmosphere, and fans gave the rookie a standing ovation after his 60-yarder.

"He passed that test with flying colors," Harbaugh said. "That's an A+++. On to the next one, and so happy for him. For him to get through that and know, 'Hey, you know you can do it, and you know how to do it.' That's the kind of guy he is. Not surprised but certainly very happy."

Earlier in the afternoon, the Arizona product was hyping the crowd up and getting even more acquainted with the Baltimore fans.

Loop is the lone kicker on the roster after the team waived undrafted rookie John Hoyland on Saturday. After Sunday's performance, Loop is now 51-for-55 (92.7%) on field goal attempts in training camp.

Here are other notes from Sunday's practice:

  • Jackson had a strong day overall with pinpoint throws all over the field and no turnovers. The two-time MVP had several accurate deep completions, including one to Keith Kirkwood down the left sideline with Jaire Alexander in coverage. He also had a perfect throw to Derrick Henry, who got a step on Trenton Simpson on a wheel route for roughly a 20-yard gain. Jackson also made good use of his legs and followed a great block by Mark Andrews, taking off down the sideline during 11-on-11 work.
  • DeAndre Hopkins grabbed a sideline catch on a comeback route, beating Nate Wiggins to the ball. Hopkins later hauled in a perfect pass from Jackson on a go-ball to the side of the end zone with Alexander in coverage, although Hopkins was out of bounds.
  • Wide receiver Devontez Walker returned to practice after missing Saturday's session, but he was off to the side sprinting and did not participate in team drills.
  • Kyle Hamilton showcased just how athletic he is on a pass breakup, leaping up high and batting the ball away with one hand on a pass intended for Charlie Kolar deep down the field. Hamilton later had what would've been a sack on Jackson on a blitz.
  • Keaton Mitchell once again showed his burst is 100% back. Mitchell had a very impressive rush when he jump cut past several defenders and eventually spun out of a T.J. Tampa and Beau Brade tackle for what could've been a long touchdown run.
  • Adisa Isaac had a few quarterback pressures on Cooper Rush in 11-on-11 work.
  • Undrafted rookie wide receiver Xavier Guillory had a nice day with a few impressive grabs. He had one long touchdown catch, gaining a step on Wiggins, and hauled in another on a back shoulder catch with Tampa in coverage.
