If you're eager for Ravens training camp to begin, the wait is almost over.
Veterans will report on Tuesday, with the first practice on Wednesday. There will be plenty of storylines evolving, including the kicker competition between Tyler Loop and John Hoyland, and how the Ravens will deploy their talent-rich secondary.
As we wait for the action to heat up, here are 10 players I'll be watching with particular interest, all in 50 words or less:
- WR DeAndre Hopkins – He's the biggest offseason addition to Baltimore's already potent offense. If Hopkins consistently works over the Ravens' secondary during practices, it will be another indication that his impact could help put Baltimore over the top.
- CB Jaire Alexander – Alexander's credentials as an elite corner are unquestioned, but the two-time Pro Bowler has only played seven games in each of the past two seasons. If Alexander gets through camp healthy, it will help alleviate concerns about his body withstanding the rigors of a 17-game season.
- QB Lamar Jackson – We won't see Jackson during preseason games, so practice and joint practice reps are his action prior to Week 1. Can he possibly top his remarkable 2024 season? During the next four weeks, Jackson will lay the foundation for making another leap in Year 3 with Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken.
- OLB Mike Green – After agreeing to contract terms, Green wants to make an immediate impact as a pass rusher after leading the nation in sacks. How Green looks once the pads come on may determine if the Ravens feel the need to sign a veteran pass rusher.
- RB Keaton Mitchell – Mitchell will endure the grind of camp for the first time since his 2023 knee injury. His top-end speed gives opponents another home run threat to defend. An impressive camp could earn Mitchell more touches as a running back and kick returner.
- CB Nate Wiggins – After adding 10 pounds to his frame, Wiggins looks stronger and remains just as fast. Wiggins wants to force more takeaways in his second year and has the talent and swag to emerge as one of the NFL's top cover corners.
- OLB – Adisa Isaac – After injuries hampered his rookie season, Isaac could join the pass rush rotation on a regular basis. How dynamic could Baltimore's defense be if Isaac and Green blossom and help top pass rushers Odafe Oweh and Kyle Van Noy terrorize quarterbacks?
- Safeties Sanoussi Kane & Beau Brade – I'm lumping Kane and Brade together because they're competing to be the No. 3 safety. Malaki Starks has looked terrific so far, but Ar'Darius Washington (Achilles) is out, and if either Starks or Kyle Hamilton goes down, Kane or Brade could be thrust into a significant role.
- RT Roger Rosengarten – Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt agreed to an extension on Thursday, meaning Rosengarten can count on seeing more of Watt twice a season. Rosengarten kept improving as a rookie, and if he's even better in 2025, it will help Jackson work his magic from a secure pocket.
- ILB Trenton Simpson – Simpson's first season as a starter wasn't what he had hoped, but he's a young, hardworking player who looked confident at minicamp. Fourth-round pick Teddye Buchanan may offer a serious challenge, but Simpson hopes to fend him off.
